Trusts and Estate Planning & Administration
What will happen when you’re gone? I’m no theologian and I won’t posit an answer for the heavens, but I do know that here in the Commonwealth of Virginia those who don’t plan ahead create a world of trouble for those they leave behind. Virginia’s intestate laws have changed dramatically recently, so if you always wanted the state legislature to determine your final disposition, you’ll be pleased to know they have found some unique new ways to do it.
If, on the other hand, you’d rather have your last will and testament reflect YOUR last willful act on this Earth, that takes some planning. Fannin Law PLLC generally recommends that each person have in place at least a will, a durable power of attorney, an advance medical directive and if appropriate a revocable trust, and these are available in one convenient package. Larger estates and other particular concerns can be addressed with other documents also available at my firm. Estate planning is about more than just documents—it’s about understanding a client’s needs and desires and advising on the best, most efficient way to achieve those ends.
Many other types of trusts are appropriate upon different life events—special needs trusts, irrevocable life insurance trusts, asset-shielding trusts and more are excellent solutions for some of life’s more complex financial decisions. If you have any questions about these or other trust and estate planning and administration issues, rest assured that Fannin Law PLLC has the extensive experience you need to help guide you to the right decisions.
My daughter and I would like to thank Brian Fannin for his outstanding work in guiding and developing our family estate plan. With his firm it was educational and easy. Brian was professional yet personal in instructing me to ensure both my daughter and I were protected for our future.
